Learn about Lampshades

I LOVE making lampshades.  They are a brilliant way of bringing the fabric of your choice into your room.  You can make them all different sizes, and you can adapt the base to fit the shade.  They are really easy to make if you use a kit.  I have written a tutorial on how to make them and you can download this here.  Below, you can see some of the lamps I have made.  First up, a shade made from my blue tits fabric; then, one of my favourites, made from my swallows design.  Below are two large scale lampshades.  The flamingo lampshade is a centrepiece within this study; and the other made from my kingfishers fabric is now a stunning feature on a large desk.

It is not just me who has made lampshades with my fabric - my friends have too!  Rachel and Rhona had never made a lampshade before but they made them easily using a kit.  Rachel made one from my woodpeckers fabric; and Rhona made one from my feathers design.  If you have never made one yourself, I encourage you to do so, using my tutorial for guidance if you like.  They are great fun to make, and you can make a real feature for your room in just a couple of hours!
