To celebrate Valentines Day, I decided to share my Lovebird fabric. It has been created by taking a print from a gelli plate. You can see one of my original sketches below, and then all the different prints I made with different ideas. You can see that my idea was for the individual birds only to feature part of a love heart. Only when they come together do the lovebirds make sense, with the heart becoming a whole. I played with different ideas for the design. Visually, I did not like it when the eyes were not covered with pink - they looked like eyeballs sticking out!

I developed these prints into a fabric design. You can see a close up of the lovebird on a branch below. I'm really pleased with how the hand drawn print has translated onto the fabric - the sense of movement has been preserved.

The lovebirds' love heart is clear in this close up. By snuggling up, the two parts of the love heart are brought together.
