My Bird Designs on Exhibition at Perth Museum!

It is with great pride that I can share that on the first floor Perth Museum in the ‘Perth Today’ case, there is a display of 5 wallpapers featuring my designs.  Each of these designs are based on different birds which can be found in the collections of the Perth Art Gallery and Museum.  These amazing birds include the:

Blue Dacnis

Great Egret

Andean Cock of the Rock or Tunki Bird

Golden Oriole

Red Bearded Bee Eater.

These luxurious silk wallpapers feature designs which have been hand printed and are rich in texture and colour.  There is also a chair and a stool on display, which have been upcycled and upholstered in a sumptuous velour fabric in the Blue Danis and Butterfly design.  A range of printmaking techniques have been used to create these images, including linocuts, rubber prints and woodcuts.

The exhibition has been commissioned through UNESCO City of Craft and Folk Art Project - here I am with Poppy Jarratt, the UNESCO Programme Officer.  This exhibition is a huge achievement and milestone for me individually,  in my practice as an artist and printmaker.  However, the exhibition is very much the product of input and team work from staff across the UNESCO City of Craft and Folk Art Project, Culture Perth and Kinross and Perth Ideas Centre.  It has been a  wonderful project to be part of, and I'm so proud of it!  Come and see it and all the other fantastic exhibits at Perth Museum.
