As regular readers of my blog posts will know, I've not done any art for weeks and weeks. I've been recovering from a terrible outbreak of eczema. Finally, it feels like the end is in sight. My skin is responding to the many changes I've made to my diet (no wheat, dairy, sugar, alcohol, caffeine), the supplements I'm taking, and the medication for a secondary fungal infection. So, for the first time in about 4 weeks, I sat down and did some drawing.
I sketched out a drawing of four giant otters I saw in Ecuador. I've been working on a series of drawings to accompany a number of stories of the rainforest I wrote after spending 6 months living there. One of my most special moments was when I went canoeing up a remote tributary, and we came across a family of four giant otters. They swam right up to us, and were very vocal, grunting and swirling around in the water around us. I've drawn out this idea, but I may well change it. I'm feeling very rusty! But it feels good just to be flexing my creative muscles again - I was wondering if I would ever have the energy and inclination to draw ever again! Never again will I take my skin, creativity and motivation for granted ...
