This black and red hand-made woodpecker print incorporates elements of the Japanese style of woodcuts in its composition. It is inspired by the woodpecker which resides in a tree behind my parent’s house and can be seen hunting insects in the bark regularly.
The printed area is 27 x 40cm and the paper is 32 x 45cm. It is a 2 colour print, executed in bold red and black oil-based inks onto beautifully smooth japanese Simili paper.
All of my linocut prints turn out slightly differently – depending on where the linocut is placed on the paper, how much ink is rolled on, and how much pressure is used to transfer the ink from the linocut onto the paper. This is limited edition print of 100.
