Sew a cushion panel with a feature fabric insert, surrounded by overlapping panels in a partner fabric. Decorative stitching surrounds the feature fabric. Use a bold fabric in a large print for the central insert, such as this Red Hens fabric, and a smaller print in the surrounding panels. This project was developed to make use of scrap pieces of feature fabric - in particular, the 20cm test squares of Spoonflower fabric. The measurements in this tutorial gives you a 30cm cushion panel, but it could easily be adapted to make a larger panel. This tutorial covers how to sew the front panel only. There are lots of tutorials on the internet about sewing cushions and putting in a zip, and I have recommended a link to the technique I use for inserting cushion zippers.
